President & Vice president Speeches
Transcript:Good Morning people of America
My name is Robert Maksimowicz and I am running to be your next president of the United States. I know that as a leader it takes experience to become an effective one. As a business leader in the field technology running a web infrastructure company that employs over 200 people I understand what it takes to ensure fairness, happiness and fulfilled lives among my staff. I will ensure that every American feels the same way where being an American is a dream career. A life where everyday is a day to flourish in every aspect of American life. As a business owner like many Americans are and former president of Mepham High School Key Club I feel that after such experience as a leader who works with the people to better our community and innovation; that this will translate to achieving the same for the country. Throughout my life I have always had a simple goal. To bring positive change in the world even if it is in the smallest way. As president I would be given the opportunity to bring change in no small scale. A change that will have a lasting positive effect on everyone and to leave a lasting impression for the world to come. It is now your choice to enable your next leader to bring a positive change in every facet of every American life. In America today, education has suffered a bit and we have been declining in rankings across the world. Recently we have been ranked 27th in the the nation for education out of 195 countries. We were once number one. We need to fix the problems with our system right now to regain our position again. Just 7 years ago we were at a 68% graduation rate. This issue has been affected by the inequality of education in low income communities compared to high income communities. Many schools in a low income area don’t have enough funding to provide high quality education to their students and provide them with good resources. To enhance their education we would like to fund these communities with new technology which will give them an opportunity to find high quality information to increase their learning ability. With this implemented, it can increase the interest of learning in students and there will be a higher chance of them graduating high school. With fixing the issue of inequality in communities it should increase the graduation rate and higher our ranking of education across the nation. Another issue with our schools is the security. In the first 21 weeks of 2018 there were already 23 school shootings reported, that could have been avoided. 2018 was ranked the worst years of school shootings for the U.S. and had equaled to more than one a week. To create a safer location for student we would implement more regulations such as metal detectors and back up plans for the students in case of an emergency. With more rules like this in place it should lower the rate of school shootings in the U.S. and provide a safer place for students to learn. Though these may not be the only problems within the education system, we will start with these and work to create a great next generation of Americans. The Current U.S national debt is 22 trillion. The national debt is the public and the intragovernmental debt owed by the federal government. Politicians and their voters become addicted to deficit spending. It is called expansionary fiscal policy. The government expands the money supply in the economy and the government spends more money than it brings in. The U.S government first found itself in debt in 1790, following the revolutionary war. Since then, the debt has been fueled over the centuries by more war, economic recession and inflation. A total of 1.1 trillion dollar goes to health care benefit programs which include medicare and medicaid. Another 1 trillion dollar and more goes to pension Transportation, veteran benefits, international affairs, education and training, etc. There are some factors that have made the national debt worse such as the overburdened social security system, continued tax cuts, health care entitlements, economic stimulus and the Iraq, Libya, and Afghan war. In 2017 the U.S. spent $4 trillion but we had only made $3.3 trillion. Within that one year there was a 7 billion dollar difference, through this with years in the making it has caused the U.S. to steadily increase their debt. We will reduce this debt by establishing a progressive estate tax, interest rate manipulation and stopping corporations from using offshore tax havens to avoid U.S taxes. Terrorism threat in the U.S In the sixteen years after 9/11, jihadists have killed 103 people inside the United States. Each of those deaths is a tragedy. The attack in Orlando was the deadliest terrorist attack in the United States since 9/11 and the deadliest mass shooting in American history. However, the attacks are not national catastrophes of the type the United States experienced on 9/11. Instead the death toll has been quite similar to other forms of political and even non-political violence Americans face today. After the successful targeting of Taliban leaders, combined with a robust counterinsurgency campaign over the years, the Taliban as a national movement has degenerated into several smaller, weaker, and localized insurgencies—each with a different set of grievances and goals. We invaded afghanistan in 2001 due to the bush administration and we are still there now going on 18 years and because of the war in afghanistan continuing for so long it's costing america 1.07 trillion dollars. In June 2010, only 34 percent of interviewees in Helmand Marjah district thought that NATO forces were winning the war. In October, this figure has risen to 64 percent. Additionally, support for women’s issues among the men interviewed in the conservative south was surprisingly high. Forty-Five percent of those interviewed support women voting in elections, while 44 percent of respondents in the south think women should have a greater role in government, and 45 percent believe that a greater role for women would improve the chances for peace in Afghanistan. The mistrust with which the foreign forces are viewed shows that we have failed to communicate to ordinary Afghan civilians who we are and why we are in Afghanistan, a critical element in supporting the troop surge properly, and ensuring its maximum effect. The United States is spending $45 billion a year on security and economic aid for Afghanistan. That’s more than double Afghanistan’s entire gross domestic product . This conflict has no purely military solution. If there were, the war wouldn’t be in its 17th year. Maintaining the current military involvement requires better political ties with Afghanistan’s neighbors. With me as president we can take on all these challenges together and create a better society for everyone. We can fix education together. We can fix the economy together. And we can fix our foreign policies together. We will create a better America for everyone because we do it for you! |
Transcript:Good morning my fellow Americans, my name is Hafsa Ikram and I am running to be the next Vice President of the United States of America. Before I tell you why I feel I am qualified for this position, let me tell you a little bit more about myself. I like to think of myself as a hardworking, honest, creative, trustworthy, responsible, passionate and open minded individual who would be ready to do anything to benefit this country. I have spoke at the TEDx WC Mepham High School event and my speech was about how we human beings can take smaller steps to achieve bigger goals such as improving foreign policy, education, and the economy. I am going to apply that strategy to our society as a whole and how we the citizens of the United States of America can work together step by step to solve our economy’s problems. I have always wanted to help people in any way I could, so I started volunteering at a hospital. I feel by doing that I am playing my role in helping the society and I hope that this would give me an idea of the career I would like to pursue in life. For as long as I could remember I have dealt with issues. In fact, all of us have came across obstacles in life and have had to overcome those problems. With having experience with leadership I know the responsibility it takes to achieve great things.
Like George Washington, I believe in the importance of unity between the American people. Washington became America’s first president realizing that the way he handled the job would impact how future presidents approached the position. He handed down a legacy of strength, integrity and national purpose, which has inspired my team to do the same. I believe that Robert and I will carry on the great work of President Washington. George Washington foreign policy was primarily to keep the united states neutral in foreign affairs as much as possible, as he did not believe it is wise for the new nation to evolve itself in the affairs of other nations. In regards, he was not only successful but set a precedent for the U.S. foreign policy for many years to come. I feel as this is best for the United States because not getting involved in foreign conflicts would preserve the lives of the American people and decrease the chances of the our national debt increasing with the possible cost of war unless deemed critically necessary. As we all know education was not as advanced in the 1700s. Washington’s formal schooling came to end at age 11 but he was largely self-taught. His strive to broaden his education father has encouraged I and your future president Robert Maksimowicz to make sure to do everything we can to the best of our ability to improve the education system in the United States. We will make sure that every child gets educated because they are the future of America. By educating people there will be an advancement towards science, technology, and medicine. The economy may not have been as complex as it is today, but during the 1700s there was a major problem facing the first federal government. It was financial chaos that was created by the American Revolution and caused a huge war debt. With facing something like this Washington supported the Jay Treaty which was to withdraw the British army units from the Northwest and end this kind of spending. This treaty was not well favored in the beginning but ended up being a real accomplishment of the Washington Administration. It created a strong central government and helped to pay off the debts of the revolution. As done by Washington we will find ways as a nation to reduce spending to lower our national debt, and to make it reasonable for every American. I and my team will follow George Washington's policies which will improve and benefit America. It will help maintain our economy, improve our education system and resolve some foreign policy issues. I and my team will make the best decisions to make America reach its highest peak. George Washington once stated, “I hope I shall possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man”. Thank you. |
